About sankor CAC CYDC
Sankor CAC Child and Youth Development Centre is a non-governmental Organization (NGO) partnering with compassion International. The centre has been in existence since 2017 and it serves five surrounding communities namely Sankor, Yakaw, Bofin, Kwesikrom and Boakrom in the Ahanta West Municipality in the Western Region of Ghana. The centre has two hundred and thirty one (231) children (participants) under its care.
The centre meets on every Saturday from 7:00am to 2:00pm.
The project tackles four(4) main aspects of holistic child and youth development, namely spiritual, cognitive, physical and socio-emotional development which covers truth, commitment, contribution, mental well-being, self-identity, building healthy relationships, shaping vision, skills, character and providing enough motivation for one to thrive.
The project organizes annual health screening for all participants and workers with medical intervention and support, monthly health education for participants and quarterly health education for caregivers.
The project provides domestic support to highly vulnerable participants, and empowers caregivers to become self-sufficient.
The project provides educational support for participants and organizes literacy classes where facilitators use the Blended Activity Learning Models (BALM) to assist all participants overcome their difficulties in reading and writing.
Guidance and counselling, skill development and leadership training is provided through collaborative initiatives with like-minded organizations.
